Monaco from the heights: the towers of Monte-Carlo facing the sea, Port Hercule and the Rock in the distance

Discover Monaco

Monaco is small, and almost all of it is on a slope: within minutes you climb from the yachts in the harbour to the narrow lanes of the Rock.

So start up on the Rock, the old town built on its headland. In the Place du Palais, the changing of the guard happens every day at 11.55 am; arrive a little early to see it up close. On the way to the Oceanographic Museum, you pass the cathedral, where Princess Grace is buried. The museum itself clings to the cliff, and its terrace looks out over the Mediterranean.

Across Port Hercule, Monte-Carlo takes over as the day draws to a close. We think the Principality looks its best at nightfall, when Casino Square lights up. To get back down, there is no need to hunt for the steps: public lifts link the districts, from the seafront up to the heights. In summer, Larvotto Beach is within walking distance of the centre. A little further along the coast, the hilltop village of Èze is best saved for late afternoon.

Our chauffeur services in Monaco

The journey we make most often is between the Principality and Nice Airport, about 50 minutes away: a fixed-price transfer from €130. At the start and end of the working day, the roads in and out of Monaco fill with commuters. If your flight falls at those times, we set off earlier and take the motorway rather than the Basse Corniche.

Many of our clients come here on business, for a meeting at a bank or a conference at the Grimaldi Forum. In September, during the Monaco Yacht Show, we run shuttles between Port Hercule, the hotels and the airport, as we do for the Principality's other major events.

Your questions

Frequently asked questions

How much is a transfer between Nice Airport and Monaco?

The price is fixed, VAT included and per vehicle: from the airport to Monaco, €130 in an E-Class (1 to 3 passengers), €160 in a V-Class (up to 7 passengers) and €190 in an S-Class (1 to 2 passengers); from Monaco to the airport, €150 in an E-Class (1 to 3 passengers), €190 in a V-Class (up to 7 passengers) and €220 in an S-Class (1 to 2 passengers). From 15 November to 15 April, the winter rate brings it down (€115 in an E-Class). The price is shown before you book and does not change afterwards.

How long does it take from Nice Airport to Monaco?

About 50 minutes for 32 km, as a guide only: depending on the season and the time of day, the journey may take longer. Your chauffeur tracks your flight: if it is late, they wait for you and the waiting time is free.

Where in Monaco can you collect me?

Wherever you are: your hotel or residence, the quay at Port Hercule right by your yacht, Monaco station or the Fontvieille heliport. For the harbour, just add the quay and the yacht's name to your booking.

Can I book a car from Monaco at short notice?

Journeys starting in Monaco have to be registered with the Monaco authorities in advance, so online bookings must be made at least three hours before departure. For anything more urgent, call us or message us on WhatsApp.

Are your prices fixed?

Yes. The price is shown before you book, including VAT and per vehicle, and it does not change afterwards.

Do you provide child seats?

Yes: child car seats and booster seats. Just mention it when you book.

Can I cancel my booking?

Yes. Up to 6 hours before pick-up, you can cancel free of charge or change your booking yourself, from your booking page (and during the hour after a booking made later than that). After that, contact us directly and we will do our very best.

How do I pay?

Directly on the website, by card, when you book: your booking is confirmed straight away. You can also pay in the car, by card (American Express accepted) or in cash.

What is the difference between a private chauffeur (VTC) and a taxi?

A VTC (private-hire chauffeur) is booked in advance and its price is fixed when you book. A taxi can be taken without booking, at a rank or in the street, and its fare usually depends on the meter. Riviera Private Driver is a VTC service.
